Ingredients:
- Black eyed peas – 1/4 cup
- Onion – 1/2
- Tomato – 1
- Garlic – 2 to 3 cloves
- Green chili – 1 or 2
- Hing – 3 to 4 pinches
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 tspn
- Masala powder or Sambar powder – 1tspn
- Salt – to taste
- Water
For tampering:
- Mustard seeds and Urad dal – 1/2 tspn
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tspn
- Curry leaves – 1 or 2 sprigs
- Oil – 1 or 2 tspn
Recipe:
- Soak Black eyed peas overnight.
- Pressure cook all the ingredients together with enough water for 3 to 4 whistles.
- Open the cooker once the pressure is released.
- With the help of masher, mash all the ingredients till its creamy.
- For tampering: Heat Oil in a pan. Add Mustard seeds, Urad dal and Cumin seeds. Once it starts spluttering add Curry leaves and pour this to the curry.
