Paruppu Thuvayal (Dal Chutney)

Paruppu thuvayal, Pasi paruppu thogayal, Green gram dal chutney


  • Green gram dal (split) – 1/2 cup
  • Dry red chili – 2 to 3
  • Garlic – 2 to 3
  • Coconut (grated) – 1 tspn
  • Curry leaves – 1 sprig
  • Salt – to taste
  • Oil – 1 tspn


  • Heat a tspn of Oil in a pan. Add Green gram dal and fry till it turns into golden brown.
  • Remove from heat and let it cool. Then grind this with dry Red chilies, Garlic, Coconut, Curry leaves and Salt. Add little water and grind to a coarse paste.

Goes well with: Rice and Curry
