Ingredients:
- Urad dal – 1/4 cup
- Red chili – 4 to 5
- Garlic – 2 cloves
- Tamarind – small gooseberry size
- Coconut(grated) – 4 tspn
- Curry leaves – a sprig
- Hing – 3 to 4 pinches
- Salt – to taste
- Oil – 2 tspn
For tampering:
- Mustard seeds and Urad dal – 1/2 tspn
- Onion – 1 or 2 tspn
- Curry leaves – a sprig
Recipe:
- Heat a tspn of Oil in a pan. Add Urad dal, Red chilies and Garlic, fry till dal turns golden brown.
- Then add grated Coconut, Tamarind, Hing and Curry leaves. Fry for 1 or 2 minutes and remove from heat.
- Grind these fried ingredients with Salt and make a coarse chutney.Add water while grinding.
- For tampering: Heat a tspn of Oil in a pan, add Mustard seeds and Urad dal. Once the seeds starts spluttering add Onion and Curry leaves, saute till Onion turns golden brown. Then pour this mix to the chutney.
